What a start to the week we’ve had in crypto land! To help you stay on top of it all, I pieced together a 18-part thread. Can’t be bothered looking through the whole thing? All good! Below, I’ve put what I considered the ten most noteworthy inclusions. Enjoy!

[1] An announcement from Elliott Suthers (Communications Director, Coinbase) revealed that “high-volume Coinbase Pro and Prime customers in Asia and Europe [can now] use cross-border wire transfers to fund their Coinbase accounts.” Now that is progress!

[2] Staying with Coinbasenews emerged that the top-tier digital asset exchange hired Quito Zuba as its Head of Market Operations last November. Formerly, Quito spent over 6 years as the Global Head of Operations for Thomson Reuters. Another big hire for Coinbase!

[3] Blockstream announced they’d entered into a JV (called Crypto Garage) with top Japanese fintech firms Digital Garage and Tokyo Tanshi. The former has invested $10M into Blockstream, also.

[4] More crypto-related news out of Japan today, this time by way of Power Ledger (POWR), who partnered with Sharing Energy, a top provider in the installation and provision of solar energy, for the tracking of renewable energy consumption! More on the big Power Ledger announcement here at Nuggets’ News (thanks to Micky.com.au).

[5] Raphael Auer (Economist, Bank for International Settlements (BIS)) published his 31-page BIS working paper, ‘Beyond the doomsday economics of “proof-of-work” in cryptocurrencies’. The paper focuses on the economics of how proof-of-work (PoW) sees Bitcoin achieve data immutability (i.e., payment finality).

[6] Lane Rettig, Afri Schoedon and Hudson Jameson shared three announcements vis-à-vis Ethereum’s community-led project management: [i] Fund launched on open-source bounties platform, Gitcoin, [ii] Afri to help lead Ethereum 1.x’s upgrade coordination, and [iii] ‘Ethereum Cat Herders’ launch.

[7] To commemorate the iOS launch of its blockchain-based, gamified microtask app, Storm Play App announced a campaign that’ll see one user win a reward totalling $US10,000 (redeemable in $BTC, $STORM, $ETH or $BNB).

[8] Polkadot, a network enabling independent blockchains to exchange information, introduced the crypto community to a number of bounties for tasks and jobs related to Polkadot and Substrate (a blockchain-building framework).

[9] Decentralized marketplace for AI algorithms SingularityNET (AGI) welcomed Andrea Bonaceto (CEO, Eterna Capital) on as an advisor. Will see SingularityNET gain broader access to a network of investors, corporate partners, and top universities!

[10] The three winning teams of Binance’s SAFU Hackathon – ran as part of Binance Blockchain Week in Singapore – have been decided upon! Sharing in $US100,000 worth of Binance Coin (BNB) were PerlinCrypto Lynx, and Merkle Blox (the overall winner). Congrats to all!
