Nugget’s News is thrilled to announce it has raised and donated $19,942 to assist volunteer firefighters, emergency services personnel, and victims of Australia’s months-long bushfire crisis.
To the generous cryptocurrency enthusiasts who donated, Nugget’s News says thank you! The support from the community—both domestically and abroad—has been truly remarkable. An especially big thank you to long-time partner Ainslie Wealth for contributing $5,000 to the pool of donations collected by Nugget’s News.
On January 10, 2020, all cryptocurrencies—bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), and litecoin (LTC)—donated to Nugget’s News were sold on CoinJar for Australian dollars (AUD). For transparency’s sake, a screenshot of an account statement from CoinJar has been included below. Prior to conversion, donations in bitcoin cash (BCH) and Binance Coin (BNB) were sold for BTC.
On January 13, 2020, the AUD-denominated total was donated to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund as well as the NSW Rural Fire Service & Brigades Donations Fund. Per the below screenshots of the invoices, both charities received equal amounts (i.e., $9,971). Many thanks to CoinJar for executing the transactions.
Donations to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund will help fund recovery programs and emergency assistance. The NSW Rural Fire Service & Brigades Donations Fund will use the donation to support brigades across New South Wales, the state most severely affected by the devastating bushfires.
After receiving requests from a number of donors to support multiple charities—rather than one—Nugget’s News decided to split the amount raised between the Australian Red Cross and RFS.
